NJ/NY Gotham FC announced Wednesday that the club has waived goalkeeper Hensley Hancuff. The 22-year-old keeper from Oklahoma was selected by Gotham in the 2022 NWSL Draft 34th overall. At the collegiate level, Hancuff started her college career at Villanova before transferring to Clemson, going a combined 29-13-4.
“I want to thank Gotham for giving me an opportunity to get my foot in the door in the NWSL,” said Hancuff. “Thank you to the amazing fans and teammates that have continued to support my career while being on loan in Australia. Even though I will miss the NJ/NY area, I look forward to taking the next steps in my career.”
After spending the 2022 NWSL season with Gotham FC, she joined Brisbane Roar FC on loan in November for the 2022-23 A-League season in Australia. She played in 16 games for Brisbane who finished ninth overall in the league.
In February, Hancuff was called up to the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team where she appeared in a friendly against France.
“We are thankful for Hensley and her contributions to the club,” said Gotham FC GM and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West. “We wish her the best and look forward to following Hensley as she continues her soccer career.”
