With the departure of its internationals, Gotham FC has signed two National Team Replacement Players to bolster the roster during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
NJ/NY Gotham FC has announced the signing of Taylor Otto and Cyera Hintzen as National Team Replacement Players.
“We are pleased to welcome Taylor Otto and Cyera Hintzen as two new members of the team,” said Gotham FC Head Coach Juan Carlos Amoros. “Their skills and abilities fit well into our system of play, and we look forward to them contributing to the club.”
Meet the players
Taylor Otto is a midfielder from Cleveland, Ohio. After playing collegiately at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she was selected 11th overall in the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League Draft by Racing Louisville. In July 2022, the club and Otto mutually terminated her contract so she could pursue opportunities in Europe. She has played with Celtic FC in the Scottish league since 2022. Otto has made appearances for U.S. women’s U20 and U23 national teams.
“I’m excited to join Gotham FC and the great environment that they have created here,” said Otto. “I feel lucky to be a part of it, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the club.”
Cyera Hintzen played collegiately at the University of Texas at Austin. The forward was drafted by the Utah Royals in the 2020 NWSL Draft as the 31st overall pick. In 2021 she played for Valur in Iceland where she featured in domestic and Champions League competitions. She then signed with with Perth Glory in the Australian A-League for the 2021/2022 season.
“I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” said Hintzen. “This is my first time playing on a team back home in the U.S., and I’m really excited to learn and grow here with a great team and a great coaching staff.”
