Newark, NJ- Montréal Victoire came into the Prudential Center with one thing on their mind and the minds of their fans beat the New York Sirens and put a bigger gap between the two sides. In the final game of the first half Montreal took the play to the Sirens who tried to use brute force to get the win, but the plan backfired and costly errors by head coach Greg Fargo helped Montreal get the win in a chippy affair.
The first year coach has been guilty of numerous errors this season, but usually one of his big 3 forwards bails him out in the end. Unfortunately, like many other games this one was too big a hole to escape from and Montreal left New Jersey with all the points in a 2-1 win that wasn’t a true 2-1 finish.
Marie-Philip Poulin dominated the ice physically, mentally and skillfully to get 2 big goals at critical moments in the game and making it hard for New York to recover. New York was without veteran star Alex Carpenter who was out with a (UBI) and no one was made aware she would miss the game or why till the post game press conference.
Greg Fargo says the injury is day-to-day but some others feel Alex could be headed to the LTIR list, which would be a huge blow to this Sirens team that like the boys in the tri-state area have been inconsistent at best.
Montreal Poulin is the first player this season to hit the 10 goal mark, Kayla Osborne despite having a solid performance in goal falls to 1-2 on the season while posting a league leading goals against average of 1.63 this season as Corrine Schroeder’s backup.
