Listen: All-Star Observations, the Liberty’s Win Streak and More on the ‘Gotta Get Up’ Podcast

It’s time to talk Liberty again now that the team is back in a groove following the All-Star break. New York ended the first half of the season with a win against the Indiana Fever. It almost turned into a catastrophic loss, but the Liberty got back in gear in overtime. The win also secured New York a spot in the Commissioner’s Cup final against the Las Vegas Aces on August 15. The first half of the season was solid, with plenty of room to grow.

With the first half ending, the Liberty took a trip to Las Vegas for All-Star festivities. While there, Sabrina Ionescu made some history.

The Liberty then got back to work, but it was a bit choppy. The Dallas Wings beat the Liberty on Camp Day, dropping them to 14-5. New York then got it back in gear with wins against the Washington Mystics, Indiana Fever and Seattle Storm.

This week on the ‘Gotta Get Up’ podcast, Erica Ayala and I discuss:

  • All things All-Star Weekend
  • Sabrina Ionescu continuing to find her groove in the Liberty offense
  • Jonquel Jones returning to form and playing at a star level
  • Marine Johannes bringing the magic back to Brooklyn

Also:
