It was an interesting week for the New York Liberty. There were three games on the calendar, however real life got in the way. The wildfires currently affecting Canada had a dramatic effect on Brooklyn as smoke consumed the city for a few days and had the air quality at dangerous, inhospitable levels. As a result, the Liberty’s game on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Lynx was postponed to a later date.
However, the team still hit the hardwood and put on quite the show. The Liberty came away with a dominant win against the Atlanta Dream as Sabrina Ionescu had a record-breaking night. Breanna Stewart and the team made even more history on Sunday as they beat the Dallas Wings in Brooklyn.
After Sunday’s game, The Local W was live at Barclays Center and made a guest appearance on the Gotta Get Up podcast!
This week, The Local W and Erica Ayala of Black Rosie Media covered:
- the wildfires affecting Canada and the Northeast area of the United States
- the incident involving Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury at the Dallas Airport
- Sabrina Ionescu’s ability to space the floor and finish at the rim
- The impressive play of Nyara Sabally
- What to watch over the next few games for the Liberty
- And more Barclays Center art!
With one game left to go in the week for the Liberty, it’ll be interesting to see how they continue laying the foundation for success.
