The roadmap to an NWSL dynasty is officially on the board, and for the rest of the league, it reads like a thriller. With the release of the 2026 NWSL schedule, defending champions NJ/NY Gotham FC have 30 fresh targets in their sights as they hunt for a third title in four years.
From a landmark opener in New England to a global stage in London, the “Champs” are loading up for a year that could redefine world club soccer.
The Opener: A New England Rivalry Reborn
The quest begins where all great New York-Boston rivalries should: in a parking lot outside Boston. They open at Gillette Stadium on March 15th against the expansion Boston Legacy. Consider it a welcoming gift from the champs to the new kids.
The match will be broadcast nationally on ABC, marking a high-profile start to the most televised season in Gotham’s history.
The Home Stand: SI Stadium and Baptism by Fire
The party moves back to Harrison, NJ, on March 21 for the home opener at Sports Illustrated Stadium (apparently, Red Bull Arena needed a magazine subscription). Gotham faces a rebuilding North Carolina Courage to kick off a grueling three-match homestand.
Then, hold on to your hats. The schedule-maker throws Gotham into the spin cycle. Just days later, they’re hosting the expansion Denver Summit before a fiery 2025 semifinal rematch against Orlando Pride. It’s a “baptism by fire” designed to test a roster that’s equal parts grizzled champion and young gun.
They’ve got the steel of World Cup winners like Tierna Davidson and the creative genius of Rose Lavelle. They have the relentless engine of Jaedyn Shaw and the explosive flair of Midge Purce. And waiting in the wings? Young bullets like the recently recalled Princess Ademiluyi. This isn’t just a roster; it’s an arsenal. The early test isn’t to see if they have depth, but to see which weapon fires first.
Curious about every weapon in the champs’ holster? We’ve already broken down the full preseason arsenal, from the cornerstone vets to the fresh-faced invites. [Check out the full Gotham FC roster breakdown here.]
Broadcast Gold: 21 Games on National TV
| Platform | Number of Games |
| CBS / CBS Sports Network | 7 |
| Prime Video | 5 |
| ABC / ESPN Networks | 4 |
| ION | 4 |
| Victory+ (Free Streaming) | 6 |
Here’s the part where you need a scorecard and a streaming subscription. Gotham will be on your TV 21 times. Seven on CBS, five on Prime Video, four on ABC/ESPN, four on ION, and a handful on the new free service, Victory+. CarMax is back, presenting the whole season, which means every Gotham goal is officially a “great deal.”
The Challenge Cup: Columbus Bound
The NWSL Challenge Cup has found a new home on the calendar. Originally set for February, the clash between Gotham and the Kansas City Current (the 2025 Shield winners) has moved to June 26 in Columbus, Ohio.
The move to a neutral site at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field was made to accommodate Gotham’s congested international schedule—a “It’s a good problem to have,” Gotham GM Yael Averbuch West told Jenna Tonelli over at Jenna’s Sources. Translation: “We have too many trophies to win, and it’s getting awkward.”
The Revenge Tour
The revenge tour continues all season. They host the Washington Spirit on July 15th, a rematch of the 2025 Championship. They get Boston at home in May, Kansas City again in August, and Angel City in October. The season ends on November 1st against Utah on “Decision Day.” Then, the real season starts: the playoffs.
The Global Mission: Beyond the NWSL
But wait, there’s more! The season is sprinkled with breaks for Gotham to jet off and win other, smaller trophies. There’s the CONCACAF Champions Cup in May (which they won last year). And before any of this, they’re in Spain prepping for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in London, starting January 28th. They’re trying to become the first true world club champion in women’s soccer history.
Key 2026 Dates to Watch

The roster is stacked, from World Cup winners like Tierna Davidson to young recalled talent. They’re all here for one reason: to prove last year was no fluke.
So, mark your calendars. The champs aren’t hiding. They’ve posted the itinerary. Everyone knows where they’ll be. The only question is: who’s brave enough to try and stop them?
