The Liberty had another winning week as the WNBA inches closer to the All-Star break.
Standing at 11-4, New York has the second-best record in the league. The only team ahead of them? The 15-1 Las Vegas Aces. The two superteams met on Thursday night, and Vegas dominated en route to a 98-81 victory. That loss was the only blemish in a 2-1 road trip for New York, which included a gritty win over the Connecticut Sun and a wire-to-wire dub over the Seattle Storm.
On the latest edition of the ‘Gotta Get Up!’ podcast, Erica Ayala of Black Rosie Media and I discussed:
- Lessons the Liberty can take from their loss to the Aces
- What they did right in wins over the Sun and Storm
- All-Star nominations for Sabrina Ionescu and Courtney Vandersloot
- Other WNBA All-Star reserves
- Defense, connectivity and how the Liberty can continue to get better
- The Liberty’s chances of making it to the Commissioner’s Cup Finals
- Marine Johannes’ role coming off the bench and how best to utilize her
